day after

Well, back to work I guess. My christmas was, well, ok. Parts were really cool and parts really sucked so. For cool stuffs, I got lots of nice gifts, my best being a nice digital camera from Paul. I think everyone liked the gifts I gave them as well... at least they seemed to.

Christmas morning my mother went into the hospital. She is very ill as is. In and out of the emergency room. Very advanced diabetes. Sometimes I have a hard time with the sympathy for her. Yes, I feel aweful that she is in constant pain and suffering as she spirals towards the inevitable. But, at the same time, its always in the back of my mind that if she had stopped drinking and took care of herself 15 years ago when she was diagnosed or hell at any point in the first 10 years of the disease, before so much damage was done to her body- well, she wouldnt be in this condition.

Its selfish to take such obscenely poor care of your health and then expect the world to weep at your suffering.
