Sunday- May 7th(my lucky number by the way), I awoke to the sound of kitty meows. I followed the noise to the closet in the hallway. There was Luna, one kitten out; another on the way. Its been 3 hours now and she is up to number 7 (again- my lucky number). At least a half an hour has passed since the last one came out so I dont think we will be haveing any more. They are all strong, screaming, little cuties.

Luna is being a wonderful mother despite her all too young age. I didnt have to help her at all, I just gave her water and comfort- she did the rest. Two of the babies were done feeding for a bit so I snapped some crappy pictures of em. Luna did not have her babies in the nice place I made for her,of corse. I may move them later tonight after all the mess so that she is in cleaner place. And just to counter the all too cuteness of kittens, I have also included a pic of how icky it can be- for those of you that have never witnessed the birth of a litter of cats. Let me tell you, for all the awwws and oooohs of the miricle of it.... there is an equally disgusting quality to the smell and mess- :P I will be posting much better pics to follow the growth and progress of the babies. At 8 weeks I will also be takeing any requests for adoption.

I hope to find most of them homes with people I at least know somewhat, because I have to feel they are going to a good home, after all, they are in part my responsability for underestimating an all too early and extreamly unlikely pregnancy. Nature always finds a way though- doesnt She. I will be keeping all I do not find a home for. I have some interest already as Luna is a very unique cat, she is a brown/grey dilute and a polydactial cat- or a Hemingway, meaning she has extra toes- Ive also heard them called mitten kittens. I dont want to disturb them too much yet to see how many of her offspring received this trait, but the two I pulled up to take pics of had several more toes then they should have. Of corse its too soon to tell how prominante the extra digits will be, but at least on a couple, they are there.
